Gas System to High-SEER Variable-Speed Heat Pump Conversion

Here's what a full gas-to-heat pump conversion looks like from start to finish. The old setup had an aging gas furnace tucked into a utility closet paired with a traditional outdoor AC unit - both of which had run their course. Solid systems in their day, but nowhere near what's available now in terms of efficiency or comfort control.

We replaced the whole thing with a Midea high-SEER variable-speed heat pump system - a new outdoor unit mounted on a proper concrete pad, a matching air handler installed inside, and a communicating thermostat tied into it all. The communicating setup is the part that really changes how the system performs. Instead of just turning on and off at full blast, the equipment actually talks to itself and adjusts output based on what's happening inside the home in real time.

Variable-speed technology means the system runs longer at lower, steadier speeds rather than cycling hard on and off. That translates directly to more even temperatures room to room, better humidity control, and lower energy use overall. It's a different experience than living with conventional single-stage equipment - noticeably quieter, noticeably more consistent.

The indoor air handler fits neatly into the same footprint as the old furnace, and the refrigerant lines are properly insulated and routed cleanly through the wall. Every piece of this install - from the electrical connections at the meter to the lineset work - was done to spec so the system performs the way it's rated to.
